Prior to starting up Dan Stuart Ltd, Dan had over 20 years Subsea experience working mainly in the North Sea, as well as West of Shetland and West of Ireland. Starting off as Assistant Subsea Engineer, Subsea, Engineer, Senior Subsea Supervisor and from 2011 to 2016 as shore based Subsea Superintendent.

Some of the roles during time as Subsea Superintendent

Plan and provide Technical support to North Sea Rigs 24/7.

Hands on Subsea support offshore as required.

Providing pro-active support, guidance and mentoring to the offshore Subsea team to plan, execute and continuously improve in Between Well Maintenance activities.

Support pro-active planning of all BOP maintenance activities.

Assist the Senior Subsea Supervisor and Rig Manager with development of BOP IBWM plans/work scopes.

Act as QA/QC during execution – Onboard monitoring of between well maintenance activities, ensure procedures are used, work quality validated and sign off procedures as required.

Actively participate in the pre-deployment checks list and pre-deployment conference call.

Participate in after action reviews.

Conduct offshore surveys of Well Control Equipment.

Provide technical support during Subsea Downtime situation.

Participate in the investigations of unplanned BOP pulls.

Supervise equipment repair in Workshop of Vendor facility.

Review Rigs critical spares inventory and make recommendations.

Assist in developing Shipyard scope of work.

Coaching and mentoring of offshore Subsea personnel.

Track and co-ordinate North Sea Subsea Support Team

Attended vendor repair meetings on a regular basis to ensure equipment for North Sea rigs are being repaired in accordance with the OEM procedures, and to address any issues with history on equipment.

Stand in as Subsea Manager on a regular basis.

Time spent as Senior Subsea Supervisor / Subsea Engineer

Maintain the BOP, Diverter, and associated subsea equipment.

Operate and pressure test the BOP on the surface and on the seabed as required.

Direct the running and recovery of the BOP and Marine Riser equipment.

Direct nippling down the BOP and all well control equipment as required.

Operate, maintain and repair the subsea BOP control system, BOP electro-hydraulic control systems.

Operate, maintain and test connectors.

Maintain BOP handling equipment, testing equipment and wellhead equipment.

Maintain and repair the drill string compensator as required.

Ensure the riser system is serviced and tested as required.

Operate and maintain the diverter system including running and handling tools.

Assist in maintaining and running BOP test tools.

Operate and maintain wellhead running/retrieval test tools.

Calculate riser space out and and tensioning calculations as required.

Monitor and maintain the riser guideline and pod line tensioners.

Pod reterminations

5-year shipyard, planning, strip, rebuild and test complete BOP assemblies.
